Nothing Plain about this Vanilla Shake!
You may consider the vanilla shake the mother of all shake recipes. That is, just like Hollandaise is considered a ‘mother sauce’ in French cooking, many of the best shake recipes start with what is essentially a vanilla milkshake as a base, and then dress it up with different flavors.
Still, you should know how good a vanilla milkshake is and that once you have everything blended together, you may not even want to add more ingredients and enjoy every nuance in vanilla’s wonderfully complex flavor.
In this recipe we use vanilla extract since it is widely available and most people already have this in their households. If you were to use an actual vanilla bean, we would recommend only using one-quarter to about a half of a bean for every 2 cups of milk used in your recipe, so as to not ‘over-saturate’ the flavors and avoid wasting those precious and expensive beans.
Remember, you can always add but can’t take away form the mix, so start small and see what amount of flavor intensity is right for you.
Unrivaled Vanilla Shake
What You'll Need
- 2 cups whole milk
- 2 scoops vanilla ice cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract or 1/4-1/2 vanilla bean
- 2 tablespoons sugar (optional)
- 2 chilled or frozen glasses
Instructions
1.) Combine all the ingredients in a blender.
2.) Blend until smooth. The higher the speed the frothier the result will be.
3.) Pour Immediately into chilled glasses and serve.
