The Brushed Stainless Cuisinart Blender

The Sleek PowerEdge CBT-700 beats out its SmartPower Sibling

The CBT-700 Poweredge Cuisinart Blender is a bar quality blender that looks great in any kitchen with its brushed stainless steel die cast base. Heavy duty blenders do have a place in residential

kitchens especially if you regularly create frozen fruit drinks, margaritas or sauces so read on to find out more about this powerful blending tool.

The Poweredge Cuisinart blender features a turbo six-sided blade that crushes ice instantly and purees well. The motor is 700-watts of power (nearly 1 horsepower!) to make your smoothies the smoothest around. The CBT-700 comes with a glass jar having a 56-ounce liquid capacity, so it is a large container, even slightly larger than the 50 ounce carafe of its dubious brother, the CBT-500 Cuisinart SmartPower, too! The unit was designed with a pre-programmed smoothie and ice pulverizing timers. The unit has a die cast metal housing; weighs 11 pounds and measures 10.4 inches by 14.6 inches by 8.4 inches. This heavy duty blender can be found online for sale at around $150 from and comes with a three year limited warranty.

The Poweredge Cuisinart blender has a four star rating from users who reviewed it. Interestingly, half the reviewers thought the noise the unit made when blending was quieter than other models they had owned and the other half thought it was much noisier than models they had previously owned. If you are seriously considering purchasing the brushed stainless CBT-700 blender, you should not that the instruction manual advises users on how to properly blend food in it. It seems that while some had issues with the blender integrating all items inside the carafe, those who had trouble with blending filled the jar with solids first and then added liquids which is contrary to what the user manual advises.

Blending Protip: Large leafy greens like kale push up against the walls and will just hold themselves and anything above it right where it is – adding (enough) liquid first or even just softer food items in the bottom of the carafe is crucial to get things going and acts as a sort of a culinary social lubricant, inviting all ingredients to the party down in the vortex.

Pros and Cons
Pros
  • It’s not at all like its little brother, the Smartpower CBT-500.
  • Brushed stainless steel is attractive.
  • The large 56-ounce jar means you can puree your sauce all at once rather than having to blend in batches.
  • The programmed timers like the ice crush cycle and the smoothie timer allow you to create perfect smoothies or frozen drinks whenever you choose to make one.
  • The jar and lid are dishwasher safe so clean up is easy.
  • Warranty is one of the best around (others are typically 1 year).
Cons
  • Some reported the powerful 700-watt motor that doesn’t quite create the vortex pull needed to force the ingredients down to the blades, although this is likely due to people using it incorrectly as noted above.
  • The unit beeps during every minute of operation, which severalusers found that to be an annoying feature, though others pointed out that you rarely blend anything for more than 60 seconds anyway.
  • The pre-programmed smoothie cycle is 30 seconds long and several users thought this was just a few seconds too short of what they needed to get the correct consistency.
  • This Cuisinart blender's high power comes at an equally high price.
