The Breville Hand Blender

The BCS500XL Cordless Immersion Blender

The Breville Hand Blender BCS500XL is a cordless immersion blender with 9.6-volts of power and a rechargeable base. The blender has a simple on and off switch on its ergonomic, easy to maneuver

handle. The Breville Hand Blender effortlessly blends with its stainless steel blender attachment and includes a 13-ounce mixing jug. The 5-pound hand blender is easy to clean and dishwasher safe. The BCS500XL makes frozen cocktails and coffee drinks and delicious protein shakes easily in a matter of seconds.

The BCS500XL Breville Hand Blender has a special loop attachment especially designed for making protein-shakes and smoothies. The blender also comes with a one-year limited warranty.

The Breville Hand Blender BCS500XL has mixed reviews—and mostly negative. Purchasers love that the product is easy to clean and that it is cordless. Sure enough, it does a great job with medium to light blending jobs such as pureeing baby food, soups, and sauces.

The negative reviews of the Breville Hand Blender include that it is not worth the expensive price because the battery of the cordless blender does not last beyond a couple of months. Not only is the unit expensive, but the NiMH batteries required are expensive. The five-pound device is considered too heavy by some users and there were many complaints about the product stalling out after about a minute of use. The complaints advising against purchasing the BCS500XL are numerous—too many to be listed here making this possibly not a reliable product.

A hand held immersion blender that rivals the Breville BCS500XL Hand Blender is the Cuisinart CSB-78 Smart Stick. This hand held is cordless and is rechargeable with a charger that plugs easily into a wall socket. The blender has twenty-minutes of run time on a single charge and has a counter top charger that can be wall mounted. The Cuisinart CSB-78 Smart Stick has some of the same attachments as the Breville BCS500XL such as whisk and chopper attachment, but can be purchased at a much lower price. The Cuisinart CSB-78 also comes with a 3-year limited warranty compared to that of Breville’s one-year warranty on their hand held. Given the complaints that the Breville BCS500XL is pricier, heavier, and that it stalls out after about a minute of use, the Cuisinart CSB-78 will be a smarter and wallet-friendly purchase.
