Mustard Barbeque Sauce Recipe
A Bold Flavor With a Little Bite
You already know barbeque sauce recipes are trade secrets, highly coveted and jealously protected. A lot of people are familiar with the red, ketchup based barbeque sauce recipes, but there are actually two major variations on this mainstay. Mustard based sauces add a very different flavor to smoke of any good barbeque. If you haven’t seen or even heard of a mustard based BBQ sauce recipe in the past, give it a shot. It’s simple to whip up with a hand blender and will truly open your eyes to the possibilities of barbecue flavor.
Again, there is quite a lot of stirring involved in the process of making these sauces, and a hand blender surely helps make it quick work! Below we break down the mustard based version – It’s just one way that you can savor your flavor. Barbeque Sauce Recipe
(Mustard Based)
What You'll Need
- 1 Cup Yellow Mustard
- 1/3 Cup Water
- 1/2 Cup Light Brown Sugar
- 1/4 Cup White Sugar
- 3/4 cup Apple Cider Vinegar
- 1/4 Teaspoon cayenne
- 1/2 Teaspoon Red Pepper Flake
- 1 Teaspoon Honey
- 1/4 Teaspoon Soy Sauce
- 1/4 Teaspoon Teriyaki Sauce
- 1 Teaspoon Black Pepper
- 2 Teaspoons Liquid Smoke (optional)
Instructions
1.) Combine all ingredients except for the Liquid smoke and honey in a high walled pot and stir thoroughly using a hand blender.
2.)Simmer for at least 30 minutes
3.)Add Liquid Smoke and Honey. Simmer for 15 more minutes
4.)Allow to cool before bottling in a very clean jar.
